Terms of Service
Last updated: September 26, 2026
These Terms govern your use of CodeOath (codeoath.in), a product of Codzodd Technologies, a sole proprietorship of Juee Hem Mankad, registered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India (Udyam Registration No. UDYAM-GJ-01-0373494) ("we", "us"), which consists of a free public coding-practice and interview-prep site and a paid candidate-assessment product for hiring teams (CodeOath for Business). By using either, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
The public learning site provides reference articles (the Blog), algorithm and SQL practice problems (Code Lab), front-end component exercises (UI Challenges), and Guided Paths (curated sequences through the same free content), free to use, with no account or sign-up required. It is funded by advertising (Google AdSense) — see our Privacy Policy for how that works.
CodeOath for Business is a separate, paid product that requires signing in (companies) or an invite link (candidates). Sections 9 and 10 below apply to it; everything else applies to both.
2. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Attempt to bypass, overload, or abuse the code-execution features (for example, resource-exhaustion attacks, or attempting to reach the network or filesystem from a running exercise).
- Scrape, bulk-download, or wholesale republish our articles, practice problems, or challenges elsewhere.
- Use automated tools to disrupt the site or degrade it for other visitors.
3. Content and intellectual property
Our blog articles, diagrams, and curated practice problems (prompts, tests, and reference solutions) are provided for your personal, non-commercial learning use. We retain rights to that content and to the site itself.
Code you write while working through a Code Lab problem, a UI Challenge, or the sample question at /try is entirely yours — we claim no ownership over it, and for most exercises it never leaves your own browser (see our Privacy Policy).
4. No warranty
CodeOath is provided for educational purposes. We make a reasonable effort to keep articles and problems accurate, but we don't guarantee they're error-free, complete, or that using the site will lead to any particular outcome (an interview, a job, or a certification). Nothing on the site is professional, legal, or career advice.
CodeOath for Business is provided as-is, on a best-effort basis. Scores are calculated automatically; we don't warrant that they, or any proctoring signal (a flagged audio clip, a screen or camera snapshot, a tab-switch or microphone-silent event), are error-free or that proctoring will detect every instance of misconduct. Your remedy for a genuine service failure on our part is described in section 10 (Payments).
5. Third parties
Ads and any external links on the site are served or provided by third parties we don't control (principally Google). We aren't responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, CodeOath is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site — including hiring or interview outcomes based on your use of the practice content, which is a study aid, not a guarantee of anything, and hiring decisions a company makes using assessment results, which remain the company's own.
For CodeOath for Business, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to the fees you paid for the relevant plan in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹10,000, whichever is greater. We're not liable for loss of profit, goodwill, or hiring or wrongful-selection costs. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud or wilful misconduct, or anything the law does not allow to be limited.
7. Availability and changes
CodeOath is provided on a best-effort basis with no guaranteed uptime. We may add, change, or remove content or features at any time.
8. Access
We may restrict access for anyone who violates the acceptable-use terms above, including suspending a company account.
9. CodeOath for Business
A company signs in, builds assessments from our question bank and its own questions, and invites candidates by email. Each candidate gets a personal link and takes a timed assessment.
- Company accounts. Whoever first signs up for a company becomes its admin. The company is responsible for activity on its account, including the teammates it invites, and for keeping its sign-in secure. Each user is asked to accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy before using CodeOath for Business, and we record which version they accepted and when. Besides the admin, a company can give teammates one of two roles. A Member (the HR role) sends and cancels invites, records decisions and notes, reads reports including the proctoring captures, and can build assessments and questions, but cannot delete candidate data or an assessment, create share links, see billing or manage the team. A Reviewer (the technical role) writes questions, builds assessments and reads reports, but cannot see the proctoring captures, send invites or record decisions. The company is responsible for who it gives access to.
- Sharing reports. An admin can create a read-only link to a candidate's report after confirming that the company is entitled to share it. You are responsible for who receives a link, for cancelling it when it is no longer needed, and for having a lawful basis to share the candidate's information with them. Links expire.
- Proctored assessments and candidates. Assessments require the candidate to allow camera, screen (the entire screen), and microphone access, and switching away from the assessment tab triggers one warning, after which staying away for more than 10 seconds, or a second switch, ends the attempt. Candidates are shown what is collected and why before anything is requested. The company is responsible for telling its candidates that they will be assessed this way, for having a lawful basis to invite them, and for how it uses the results. If a candidate objects to being proctored, or needs an accommodation (for example, because of a disability or their use of assistive technology), the company — not CodeOath — is responsible for offering that candidate a reasonable alternative or accommodation outside the assessment. Automated scores and proctoring signals — a tab switch, a flagged audio clip, camera or screen snapshots — are inputs for a person to review, not proof of misconduct, and hiring decisions remain the company's own.
- Invite links and expiry. Each invite link works for a limited time (48 hours by default). After that the candidate can no longer open or attempt the assessment. We close unused or unfinished invites automatically and email both the candidate and the company's admin to say so; the company can then choose to send a new invite. Someone already mid-attempt when the window closes may finish within the assessment's own time limit.
- Passing score. The company sets a passing score for each invite when it sends it. The Pass or Fail label in the company's dashboard only compares the candidate's automatically graded score with that number; it is not an evaluation of the candidate by CodeOath, and the company decides what to do with it.
- Your content and data. A company keeps ownership of the assessments and questions it creates. For candidate data, the company is the party responsible under applicable data protection law for why it is collected and how it is used; we act on the company's instructions to run its assessments, as described in our Privacy Policy, including automatic deletion 180 days after an assessment is completed.
- Use only for genuine hiring. Don't use the product for anything other than assessing real job candidates, and don't try to access another company's data.
10. Payments
- One-time purchases. Each plan (and the pilot) is a one-time purchase in Indian rupees (INR), with the price shown at checkout before you pay. Nothing renews automatically. By paying you agree to these Terms.
- What you get and for how long. Each purchase includes a set number of candidate invites, valid for the period stated for that plan, counted from the date of purchase — for example one month for the pilot and Starter, three months for Scale, and six months for Growth. Invites not used by the end of that period expire; to keep inviting, purchase another plan. Custom plans are agreed with us directly and may differ.
- Buying a new plan replaces your current one: the new plan's invites and validity period start on the date of the new purchase, and any unused invites from the earlier plan are not carried over. An invite is counted when it is sent, and it is not returned to your allowance if it expires, bounces, or is never opened, or if you delete an assessment, a candidate's data, or an invite's results.
- If you revoke an invite that the candidate has not opened and that has not yet expired, we return that one invite to your allowance, up to a limit we set to prevent misuse — currently two returned invites in total on the pilot plan, and three in any rolling 24 hours on paid plans. A change to this limit applies only to allowances purchased after the change.
- Payment processing. Payments are processed by Razorpay. Card, UPI, and bank details are entered on Razorpay's checkout and never reach or get stored by CodeOath; Razorpay's own terms apply to that processing. We send an invoice for each payment to the email address on the account. Prices are exclusive of GST. We are not currently registered for GST. If we register, GST is added to invoices dated on or after the date of registration.
- Refunds. Purchases are non-refundable, except where you were charged more than once for the same purchase, or we are unable to provide the service you paid for — in either case we refund the affected amount to the original payment method. Email contact@codeoath.in to ask.
- Price changes. We may change prices for future purchases; a change doesn't affect a plan you have already bought.
- Problems with a payment. If a payment fails, or you were charged and your plan doesn't appear, email contact@codeoath.in and we'll look into it.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept it.
